Metalurg with one foot in EHF's Champions League

Macedonia has great chances to have two teams at the VELUX EHF Champions League, but let’s wait Sunday and respect wishes of the most optimistic PICK Szeged fans. Metalurg beat Pick Szeged 26:16 (13:11) in the first match of the EHF CL qualification stage in front of 4000 fans in “Boris Trajkovski” hall in Skopje.

The Hungarian team scored only two goals in 25 minutes of the second half. Poor PICK’s attack, but before that fantastic Macedonian defense with Darko Stanic between the posts, made fantastic +10 (23:13, 49.) in the last part of the match.

Until the end, Szeged scored three more goals to change negative impression about their performance, but Metalurg secured the distance – 26:16.

In his first match after knee injury and six month break, left wing Dejan Manaskov scored 6 goals ahead of Renato Vugrinec with 5. In Hungarian squad, Roland Mikler was good with 11 saves, while Gabor Ancsin scored five goals.

Second match will be played on Sunday in Szeged.
