THE ENTIRE REGION INTERESTED IN THE ‘’PATENT’’ OF FFM FOR REGIONAL COMPETITION

FFM and Gjorgjioski received support from Davor Suker for this initiative that should take a serious progress on the football game in this region.


Immediately after the visit of the President of the Croatian Football Association, Davor Suker to FFM, the past days complete Croatian sports community become interested in for the project which was initiated by the President of the FFM, Ilco Gjorgjioski, and submitted to UEFA for the formation of the regional league.

"For us it is very important that the first people of the Croatian Union welcome and with positive view on the proposal submitted to UEFA for club competition because everyone in the region is facing the same problems - reduced number of spectators in the stadiums, insufficient interest for national championships, a small number of international matches. I hope that it will lead to realization of this project, "- President of FFM Ilco Gjorgjioski.

Suker said that before all bodies of UEFA will lobby for this "patent-project" of FFM which through an extensive study has been submitted to the European house of football.

The format is acceptable to virtually all alliances in the region.

As is known, according to the idea of ​​FFM, it is a regional competition of 42 clubs from 13 countries of Southeast Europe. It will be played in the second season in terms of UEFA and would participant clubs in the region that started the season in the UEFA Cup but failed to withstand the spring.

In the competition, according to the project would be six clubs eliminated from the Champions League qualifying rounds, 36 clubs eliminated from qualifying for the Europa League, 11 eliminated from the group stage of the LE and five eliminated from the Champions League group stage.

42 clubs would be distributed in six groups, so will follow elimination stage to the final. The winner of the competition will require direct participation in the group stage of the Champions League, and the ¼ finalist will received a finalist spot in the fourth qualifying round of the Champions League.

"To get to this competition now should come establishing a working group that would make a complete technical analysis of the project, it would then be constituted before UEFA. Of course, it is positive that all this runs into huge support from unions in the region, and it was stressed at the meeting of the six national associations in Ljubljana "- Gjorgjioski.

And, despite the Croatian media last period strong support for this project gave Serbian and Bulgarian media emphasizing that it is perhaps the only salvation for the football in the region.
