Greek Trains To Reopen Routes to Skopje, Belgrade and Sofia

Greece’s rail operator, TRAINOSE, will resume daily services between Thessaloniki, Skopje, Belgrade and Sofia from May 10. 

TRAINOSE, the operating arm of the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE), had suspended services linking Thessaloniki to the Balkan capitals in February 2011 due to financial difficulties. However,  as its economic situation is improving, it decided to to strengthen Thessaloniki’s position in the rail map by relaunching international services.

To celebrate launching the restored service, TRAINOSE is offering a 30% discount from May 10 to June 10. A single fare from Thessaloniki to Skopje will cost 12.20 euros, or 17.10 euros for a return ticket (19.50 euros after June 10), while Thessaloniki to Belgrade will cost 33.80 euros, or 47.30 euros for a return ticket (54.10 euros after June 10).

Passengers travelling to and from Belgrade will be able to enjoy sleeper services. During the busy summer period, there will also be additional wagons to transport passengers’
